Chartered in 2007. Two branches. One credit committee. A balance sheet you can read in a single sitting.
Platinum Bank received its Minnesota state banking charter on February 12, 2007 — ten months before the start of the Great Recession. The timing was, charitably, ambitious.
The bank opened anyway, with a small commercial-loan portfolio and a disciplined underwriting approach. By keeping concentrations low and standards conservative, Platinum stayed profitable through every year of the crisis.
Today the bank operates from the same Oakdale headquarters at 7667 Tenth Street North, with a single additional branch in Plymouth. The balance sheet is built almost entirely from commercial real estate and C&I loans to Minnesota businesses.
